The Team

Luis Cheek - Competition Groom

Luis joined the team in September this year after having spent some years working under David Sheerin at Wellington Riding School. Luis will look after all the competition horses on a day to day basis and will come to all the shows and events with Tom.

 Katy-mae Denver - Working Pupil

Katy joined the team in February this year after having been previously working with horses in Gloucestershire. Katy keeps us all entertained and has began a great career with horses. Katy will focus on her BHS exams and her NVQ for the remainder of the year.

Gary is our backing and breaking rider. He joined the team at the end of 2013 and the young horses love him.

Charlotte Sinclair - BVSc PhD CertEP, CertES(Orth) MRCVS

Following graduation from Bristol University in 2000, Charlotte undertook an Internship in Equine Practice to become an equine ambulatory vet. Subsequently she moved to the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) for a three year residency programme in Equine Practice and Musculoskeletal Sciences working with Professor Roger Smith. She was awarded RCVS Certificates in Equine Practice in 2004 and Equine Surgery (Orth.) in 2006. Her interest in tendon injury led to undertaking and publishing research on the effect of loading on equine tendon.

She was awarded a PhD by the University of London for this work in 2010. From 2009 to 2012 Charlotte was employed as Staff Clinician in Equine Diagnostic Imaging at the RVC Equine Referral Hospital where she developed expertise in equine standing MRI and CT. Charlotte is an FEI Official Veterinarian for Eventing and she provides veterinary cover at national and international Horse Trials. After nine years working at the RVC Charlotte worked at a sports horse practice in Lambourn before joining B&W Equine Vets Willesley in February 2013 where she combines her particular interest in sports horses with all aspects of equine practice.

Richard Taylor

Rich grew up around horses and competed a lot when he was younger, now as a farrier he still rides which enables him to apply his riding knowledge into the foot care of our horses.
He qualified in 2012 after his apprenticeship with Nick Partridge DipWCF and in 2015 started working with Tom and his string of horses.
Rich shoes a wide range of horses from performance horses to everyday riding horses, he regularly attends seminars to keep himself up to date on modern techniques to make his work as effective as possible.
Glen (Rich’s brother) is a vital part of Rich's business as he helps out with younger horses and is always there for a second opinion on different horses feet.

Polly Williamson - International Event Rider - Dressage and Jumping Trainer

Polly Williamson won three Individual Gold Medals at Junior and Young Rider European Championships riding Highland Road and Folly’s Last as well as being part of the winning British team on each occasion. Polly also won the Young Rider National Championships held at Bramham on two occasions.

Polly was placed at both Badminton and Burghley and won numerous other International Events. Polly successfully ran an equestrian business from Charlton Park for twenty years and is now delighted to be training Tom at her former base, impressed by Tom moving the yard forwards and upwards.

Jayne Smart  (BHSI / UKCC Level3)– Show Jumping Trainer

Jayne has jumped in the Young Rider Finals at HOYS and Hickstead and was 4th at Olympia. She was also placed in the Fox Hunter Final on a horse that she had produced herself and also qualified for the Grade C final at the RIHS.

Jayne was also 3rd in the working hunter final at RIHS on a horse that she broke and produced herself. Jayne evented for 10years and was placed at Windsor and Blenheim and she has also jumped round Badminton and Burghley. All this was achieved on home produced horses.

I regularly go for show jumping lessons at her base in Weston Super Mare. Jayne is a very talented trainer and has helped me with all of my horses.
